Sweet & Soy Marinated Chicken

 

The finished chicken will have a slightly sweet, slightly spicy kick to it and will beat plain old boiled or grilled chicken. If you’re fat constrained, reduce the oil to hit your numbers. This also works great with steak!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 lb boneless chicken breasts

  • 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce

  • 3 Tbsp SF syrup

  • 2 Tbsp vinegar

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp Chinese Five Spice Powder

  • 1/2 Cup Olive Oil

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Mix marinade ingredients - soy sauce through olive oil in a glass mixing bowl

  • Whisk to combine thoroughly

  • (optional) stab the chicken breasts randomly with a sharp knife

  • Add chicken to a freezer bag and pour the marinade over

  • Press air out of the bag before sealing and place flat on a plate in your fridge

  • Marinade as long as you’d like, up to overnight, flipping about halfway

  • Discard excess marinade, and grill or bake to desired doneness

Recommended pairing with jasmine rice and sauteed red cabbage
